WinCo Foods Portland Open Delivers $725,000 to Oregon Charities

(PORTLAND, OR – November 12, 2014) – WinCo Foods Executives, tournament sponsors, media representatives, benefitting charities, special guests and the Lagardѐre Unlimited Events team gathered today at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland for the announcement of the overall charitable impact of the WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft.  WinCo Foods CEO Steven Goddard announced today that the tournament generated $725,000 for local charities, the second-highest charitable contribution for a first-year event in the 25-year history of the Web.com Tour.  “All of us at WinCo Foods were thrilled with our first year event, and we are ecstatic with the $725,000 that will be going back to Oregon charities and are looking forward to next year!” commented Goddard.

WinCo Foods Portland Open 2014 Charity Check PresentationWinCo Foods will distribute the charitable funds through the WinCo Foods Foundation, which focuses on giving back in the areas of youth well being and education, military veterans and their families, and continuing efforts to fight the battle against hunger.  Over 100 charities in Oregon and Southwest Washington will receive financial support from the WinCo Foods Portland Open through the WinCo Foods Foundation.

Contributing to this charitable outcome, WinCo Foods donated the entire gate back to the local community, and for the first time in Oregon Professional Sports history, 100% of the revenue from every ticket sold was given to charity through the Nabisco TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program.  This program gave over 100 Portland-area non-profit organizations the opportunity to sell tournament tickets and keep 100% of all the proceeds from their ticket sales.  $164,522 in tickets were sold to the event, and Portland Youth For Christ led the way with over $35,000 in ticket sales.  Nabisco was also generous enough to provide a $50,000 Bonus Pool to reward the non-profits for their efforts, bringing the 2014 TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ grand total to $214,522.

WinCo Foods Portland Open Executive Director Jeff Sanders pointed out the remarkable efforts of the participating charities, saying, “The non-profit organizations that participate in the Nabisco TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program work extremely hard selling our tickets and the partnership with the tournament is truly a win-win. The charities benefit from the revenue they earn from selling our tournament tickets and keeping 100% of the dollars generated, and the tournament benefits from increased attendance.”  Many participating charities are looking ahead and focusing their attention on their 2015 sales efforts, with some having already sold 2015 tickets.
